How to Prepare Your Home for Professional Cleaners

You’ve scheduled a professional cleaning service—great choice! But here’s something many homeowners in Ontario don’t always realize: a little preparation on your part can make a big difference in how much we can accomplish during our visit.

From our experience cleaning homes across Newmarket, Aurora, and Bradford, we’ve noticed a pattern: houses where clients do a quick tidy beforehand always look more polished. It’s not that we clean any differently—it’s that we can spend more time on deep cleaning instead of moving clutter around.

Why Preparation Matters

Think of it this way: if you spend 15–20 minutes picking up toys, sorting mail, and clearing countertops, that’s 15–20 minutes we can devote to scrubbing your shower, detailing baseboards, or making your hardwood floors gleam.

We’re not here to judge your mess—honestly, we’ve seen it all! Our goal is to give you the most value for your cleaning investment, which means focusing on the tasks that truly need professional expertise.

What About Dishes and Laundry?

Here’s the honest truth: most professional cleaning services in Canada (including ours) don’t include dishes or laundry in a standard cleaning package. The reason is simple—washing, drying, and putting away a sink full of dishes can easily take 30 to 45 minutes. That’s time better spent deep cleaning your kitchen.

If you’d like help with dishes or laundry, just let us know. We’re happy to add it as an extra service. For regular cleanings, having dishes taken care of ahead of time allows us to focus on what really matters—scrubbing the sink, wiping down appliances, cleaning inside the microwave, and leaving your countertops spotless.

Managing Pets on Cleaning Day

We’re big animal lovers, but to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety, a little planning goes a long way:

  • Dogs: Friendly dogs can relax in a separate room or outside if weather allows. If your dog is anxious or protective, arranging a visit with a friend or a local doggy daycare can make the day smoother.

  • Cats: Most cats prefer quiet hiding spots. Just let us know where they usually retreat so we don’t accidentally let them out.

  • Other pets: Please make sure cages, tanks, and enclosures are secure so we can clean safely around them.
